"The Void" Showrunner Steps Down! Series To Be Reworked!

8/18/2013

0 Comments

After months of inactivity, "The Void," a horror anthology series from Land of the Living Dead co-creator, Carey Broadbent, has been canceled. The series would have told different stories each week, and focus on a range of genres from horror and fantasy, to even science fiction.

However, this is not the end. As Broadbent steps down as showrunner, the reigns have been given to Chris Davis (Hellbound, Trinity) who plans to bring a "new format and style" to the series.
While remaining an anthology series, instead of telling new stories episode-to-episode, each season will act as a self-contained miniseries, much like the FX hit, "American Horror Story." Producers confirm that early production of season one, which has officially been titled "The Void: Sanctum," has already begun and we can expect the season to run for a total of six episodes.

theVPN is excited to announce that Alex Matthews' "Metropolis: Special Crimes Unit," a crime/mystery drama set in the DC Universe, which follows the officers and associates of the M:SCU, a branch of the police that solves cases involving criminals with meta-human powers and other cases of the strange and unexplained variety, has been officially given a series order!

A number of 12 episodes have been ordered by the network for season one of the hour-long drama series. Read the official synopsis below;
The city of Metropolis has always been a place of mystery and the bizarre, but has seen a lot more strange things over the last few years. In response to the growing number of vigilantes patrolling the streets, and the rising occurrences of criminals demonstrating beyond-the-norm abilities, Metropolis City Mayor Frank Berkowitz grudgingly authorised the formation of a new division, the Special Crimes Unit.

The Unit is now commanded by Captain Maggie Sawyer, a tough as nails woman who has walked the beat for many a year and developed a reputation as a person who knows how to gets things done, while being known for having a short temper when it comes to bureaucracy interfering with proper police work. Still very much in it's infancy, the Unit will encounter not just problems dealing with the cases that come across her desk, but also the usual friction between people when they first come together in a strange situation.
The new series has been confirmed to exist within the same universe as "Watchtower" and "Trinity." No news on an official airdate, but we can confirm that the series has been given a Monday time slot. More information to come!

It's official! theVPN has given a series order to the new dramedy pilot, "Easy," from Tom East, creator of projects such as "Inside Out," and "X-Men: Rebirth," both webisode serials on TEN, as well as the MZPtv original movie, "Perfect," which was released in March 2012.

The half-hour dramedy series has been set to produce a total of 12 episodes for its first season, that will focus on the secrets and scandals of high school life in the fictional California town of Sunset Valley. A more in depth overview of the season can be read below:
At his last school, Drew was the most popular guy around. Openly gay, he and his boyfriend were the school’s power couple. Things went sour after his mom hooked up with her boss' son - when her boss was their next-door neighbor. It was the last straw and finally the family packed up to move houses, moving all the way to Sunset Valley, CA. Newly single and confused about where he stands, Drew finds that life at Sunset Valley High School is going to be different. Somebody at the school has it out for him and all of his secrets are coming out once at a time."
Most of the series has been cast, although a few key actors from the original pilot have been recast following the pickup. Jeremy Irvine will still lead the new series as Drew Cunningham, along with Chris Zylka, and Lee Pace, who have remained attached to the series in their respective roles.

However, Holland Roden, Daniel Sharman and Matt Dallas are in the process of being recast. Emma Watson is our new "Chess," and Liam Hemsworth, will be playing "Brandon."

Producers are still trying to pen down an new actor for Matt Dallas' character, "Isaac," but we have learned that Sean O'Pry, Marlon Teixeira and Colton Haynes are being considered for the role. Though their original characters have been recast, producers have hinted at the actors possibly returning to the series at some point in new roles.

Production of the remainder of season one is currently underway by new VPN showrunner, Tom East, and has been slated for a 2013 release. More information in regards to production will be made public via the VSGuide section of the website.

So how do you feel about theVPN's newest pickup? Sound off below!
